FAQs:
I sometimes get disconnected. Why?

Before doing anything else, see if turning down your FIFO buffers solves the problem. This can be accomplished by doing the following steps:
  • Go under the "Start" menu and choose "Settings".
  • Choose "Control Panel" and then double-click the "Modems" icon.
  • Select your modem from the list by left-clicking it and then click the "Properties" button.
  • Select the "Connection" tab, and click the "Port Settings" button.
  • Turn both buffers all the way down. Turning down the FIFO buffers often clears up connection problems.

Determine if the disconnects are random, occuring at regular intervals, or during certain operations. This information is helpful in troubleshooting disconnection problems.

  • Here are some reasons that you may be unexpectedly disconnected from Angelwire:

A Bad Connection. If the phone line quality is too poor or the if modem isn't able to operate properly, your connection may be lost. Try reconnecting. If it happens again, try rebooting your computer by turning the power off and then reconnecting.

Duplicate Logins. You may only be logged on to Angelwire at one location at one time. You and a freind cannot be logged in using the same Username at the same time.

Call Waiting. Some modems will disconnect if you receive an incoming call. You can try disabling call waiting if you suspect that this is the problem.

Time Out. If data isn't sent or received for 20 minutes, Angelwire assumes you've left your computer and terminates the connection.

Software Conflict. If another program tries to use the modem without checking to see if it's already in use, you may be disconnected.

Defective Hardware. You may have a defective modem which is the cause of the problem.
