FAQs: I always get General Protection Faults while using the Internet. Why? Before anything else, run ScanDisk to check for disk errors. If you are unfamiliar with ScanDisk, click here for a short tutorial. If you're running an antivirus program or crash guard, try disabling it. Sometimes these programs can interfere with your internet browser. Make sure that your video drivers are up to date. (Check with your hardware manufacturer.) Many times General Protection Faults (GPF's) will occur because of the video drivers you use. Many Cirrus Logic video card drivers that come on your computer are to blame. If you own a Packard Bell, or any other computer that uses a Cirrus Logic chipset on the video board, you need to update your display drivers. Please consult your documentation or the place you purchased your computer. Although we will try to point you in the right direction, BAK Enterprises is unable to provide support for this procedure or the drivers necessary for any non-BAK computer system. As a last resort, reinstall the browser. This sometimes clears up the problem. |
